2014-2016
Lead Designer
This is one of Jarvus' pro-bono projects that we are most proud to be involved with. Philly Tech Week is a week long festival to celebrate the various technology and entrepreneurial sectors of Philadelphia. Jarvus has been the founding web technology partner since the first annual festival in 2010. The organizers of Philly Tech Week have expanded and added a Baltimore Innovation Week and Delaware Innovation Week. All three are implemented with the designs I create every year.
In 2014, we migrated the Philly Tech Website from Wordpress to a dedicated server. Along with the infrastructure change came a whole new skin and fresh branding. I began by trimming the PTW logo down in order to bring it up to current graphic design standards. In addition, I reenvisioned and completely redesigned the user experience and interface for the website. When designing for the Philly Tech Week 2014 website, we were one of the first web pioneers to use the card-based layout (aside from Pinterest, of course!). Since then, I have iterated the skin annually to modernize the design and ensure that each year maintains its own sub-branding. In addition to being responsible for the design of the site, I sourced the photography used from previous festivals to keep the authenticity. However, my responsibilities did not end at design; I stepped in to make contributions to the markup and styling for the website when our team was shorthanded on front-end developers.
